Food is Culture: What Our Favourite Meals Say About Who We Are

When you think of your favourite comfort food, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s a curry, a hangi, dumplings, pasta, or something sweet. Whatever it is, chances are it tells a story about where you come from and what makes you feel safe.

Food connects us to our whakapapa. It links us to migration, celebration, survival, and family. And it also evolves as we do, becoming part of new identities and blended families.

This month, we’ll celebrate the diversity of meals shared by wāhine in our community. If you have a dish that speaks to your identity, we’d love for you to share it with us.
