Welcome to August – A Month of Celebrating Food, Culture, and Women

This August at WWACT, we're celebrating the beauty and richness of women’s culture through something we all love and share: food.

Food tells our stories. It holds our memories, our roots, and our relationships. Whether it's a recipe passed down through generations or the first dish you ever cooked for your family, food is deeply tied to who we are. That's why this month, we're inviting you to join us as we honour the powerful link between women, culture, and kai.

Throughout August, we'll be hosting weekly events that explore the diverse backgrounds and traditions of wāhine in our community through cooking, storytelling, and shared meals. Each week we’ll try something new – from cooking demonstrations to recipe swaps, from food-based wellness workshops to our final Cultural Food Festival for the whole whānau.

Whether you love to cook, want to reconnect with your culture, or simply enjoy a good meal with good company, there will be something here for you. This month is about sharing what nourishes us – physically, emotionally, and culturally.

We can't wait to celebrate with you.

See our Events Page to register, and follow along as we highlight the incredible flavours, stories, and strength of the women in our community.
